PLANNING YOUR GIGHA SMALL GOURMET WEDDING FOR UP TO 50 PEOPLE

Your Gigha Small Wedding booking letter will be sent by email.

Your non-refundable deposit of £2000 is required within seven days of receipt, along with your photo ID, to confirm your Wedding in the Crear diary. 

The easiest and most secure way to make payment is by BACS directly to our bank.

When you're ready, please book your initial planning chat. Allow a couple of hours to go over everything in detail.

We'll only recommend suppliers that we'd be happy to book for ourselves, so you're very welcome to ask for suggestions, help and advice.

To keep a lid on the cost we believe that when planning your wedding it is helpful to decide on priorities. Gourmets will want to spend on food, music lovers may want to splash out on the band. Whatever your preference, it is important to plan your budget accordingly.

BOOK YOUR MARRIAGE CELEBRANT

The next step is to book a marriage celebrant to conduct your marriage ceremony. The Registrars conduct civil weddings. All other marriages, including Humanist, are classed as religious or belief weddings.

Same-sex marriages can be conducted by the Registrars, the Humanist Society and the Scottish Episcopal Church.

If your marriage celebrant is unable to attend at the time and date in your booking letter, please liaise with us before confirming your final plans. With the exception of Catholic marriages which take place in church, you can choose your marriage ceremony location on your wedding day.

MARRIAGE CELEBRANTS

Please contact your choice of marriage celebrant directly to discuss your wedding plans & confirm your wedding dates in their diary.

Please contact Lorna Wilson, our local registrar regarding all your legal paperwork. If you are a non UK passport holder, please apply for any marriage visas required to enter the UK for the purpose of your wedding. 

If you are legally married prior to your Crear Wedding & you wish it to remain your secret, it is possible to have a marriage blessing where your guests should be none the wiser.

YOUR LEGAL MARRIAGE PAPERWORK

Contact Lorna Wilson, Head Registrar at our local Registry Office in Lochgilphead, regarding all your legal paperwork and, if relevant, Marriage Visas required to enter the UK. 

The earliest you can submit your Notice of Marriage legal paperwork by post is 3 months prior to your wedding date, however please do not leave it any later than 4 weeks before.

A Marriage Visa, stating purpose of visit, may be required to enter the UK for non-UK passport holders.

MARRIAGE BLESSINGS AND VOW RENEWALS

All the celebrants will perform a symbolic marriage ceremony or blessing, including a traditional Scottish handfast.

Many couples opt to marry officially in their country of origin and elope to Crear for their wedding ceremony that includes a traditional Scottish hand fasting.

In these circumstances you can travel and enter the UK on a tourist visa and no Notice of Marriage is required.

Alan Boslem, our superstar chef who heads up the talented team at Crear Kitchen, has over 25 years’ experience catering in top hotels and establishments across the UK. Winner of the CIS award for Banqueting and Events Chef Award 2019, Alan’s food will be a highlight.

The Crear Kitchen Signature Menu is included in the Gigha Small Gourmet Wedding Package however you are welcome to substitute a course from our à la carte menus .

Vegan and vegetarian, gluten and dairy free are all easily catered for.

CATERING FOR ALL OR PART OF YOUR STAY

We would be delighted to cater for all or part of the rest of your stay. The evening prior to your wedding we suggest a relaxed supper; lasagne, crusty garlic bread, salads and a delicious dessert for example. Ready to go when you are. 

If you're staying at Crear House for more than 2 nights, the Crear Burger Bar is a great option for the day after your wedding.

Your Bridal Flowers will be created by Blooming Wild Crear Flowers to your specification using seasonal blooms.

Our Gigha Small Wedding Package allows for your bridal bouquet and buttonhole plus table flowers.

Add onto this for additional bridesmaids bouquets and buttonholes, a floral arch or a collar for your four legged family and friends!

YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

One of the talented team at the Crear Collective will cover your day from getting ready to your wedding meal. All the photographers are nationally recognised for their amazing work so you can be sure of an absolute star covering your day.

Please ask on the day if you have any specific requests regarding shots. Your gallery at www.crearphotography.com will be online to download within three weeks of your wedding. Our online Crear Photography Shop offers beautiful handmade albums, framed prints, boxes, cards and prints.

BOOK YOUR BAND

Be quick to book your band for your evening entertainment. We've welcomed many musical acts to Crear over the years, so please ask us who gets the party started, and who offers a professional, reliable service. Crear will ensure you're on the dance floor for 8pm to finish at midnight.

We have a PA system to plug in or bluetooth your playlist. Our Wifi cannot stream music.

The acoustics are very lively so a PA system for speeches is not required.

The entire team at West Coast Motors go over & above to ensure your guests have a safe journey to & from your wedding. 

We always suggest that you tell your guests to be ready ten minutes before the bus is due to collect them. No one wants to have to wait around for stragglers!

CREAR HOUSE SLEEPS TWELVE GUESTS

Crear has four large double bedrooms, one twin room and one bunkroom sleeping 12 guests in total plus the option to have additional pop-up beds for children.

All bedrooms have an en-suite bath or shower room. Crear House is fully equipped to self-cater with everything you need for your wedding, including an iron and ironing board, hair dryers, towels and a washing machine. In the kitchen you will find salt and pepper, tea and coffee, cling film and silver foil, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and tea towels. As mobile coverage is limited in Argyll a landline is provided.

CREAR HOUSE PARTY GUESTS

Every couple makes their own individual choice who will stay at Crear. Some invite their closest friends, while their parents & siblings along with other family stay in similar house parties at Barnlongart House or Achaglachgach.

Some brides choose to get ready in Crear while other times the grooms' side use it as their base. Depending on your personal situation, you have the flexibility to decide what works for you.

Most couples expect a contribution towards the cost of the accommodation at Crear - the amount is entirely up to you.

Hotels, B&Bs & other places to stay

If your guests are simply looking to put their head down at the end of the day then we suggest they stay in Ardrishaig or Lochgilphead.

For those wanting to make a weekend of it, then Tarbert is a very pretty fishing village. For those who are coming for a holiday, we can happily recommend some great places to go & explore. We really want all your guests to have the best time!

Encourage your guests to stay along one bus route, this will make planning easier and ensure that no-one has to sit on the bus for too long !

Champagne and Prosecco, local beers and ales for your drinks reception followed by carefully selected organic and biodynamic wines from small independent producers to complement your Wedding Breakfast plus soft drinks are included in your GIGHA small wedding package.

Crear has a fully stocked spirit bar specialising in Scottish gins and whiskies.

Cake cutting & Speeches

Highly recommended for everyone's nerves is having your speeches before your meal.

If someone has kindly baked you a wedding cake, stop to cut it in front of all your guests when you are piped into your wedding breakfast. Thanks to the cake maker can then also be given in the following speeches. 

While it's a nice idea to have a speech between courses, it will drag out the meal as clearly the Crear team have to have cleared the tables before everyone begins & the chefs are not happy if the speeches run on & ruin your meal.  Also if you have booked a great band, you want to ensure that nothing encroaches on the evening entertainment.

THE MORNING OF YOUR WEDDING

Unless the groom's grooming routine is a lengthy process, we suggest organising an activity to get everyone else out & about such as visiting a local castle, golf, clay pigeon shooting (on the beach or at the Tarbert gun club), cycling, fishing, boat trips, beach games, whale watching, museums and walking.

Clay pigeon shooting can be great way to introduce your friends with teams competing. Prize giving can become part of the speeches later in the day.

SAVE THE DATES, INVITATIONS & MAPS


The Crear Wedding Maps are ideal to send with your save the date cards. It clearly shows all those who are not familiar with the beautiful west coast that a little planning to attend your wedding will go a long way.

Please note that in our experience guests invited to a Crear Wedding say "YES" - distance will not deter - so only invite those you really want to be with you on the day.

We will be happy to send maps to you.  We just ask that you make a £1 donation per map to the charity of your choice.

Crear Weddings involve a degree of organisation on behalf of your guests. For those who have never ventured north of the M25, it's important that they appreciate they need to make a few plans in good time to ensure they get here! 

Our Crear Wedding Map is a great way of demonstrating where things are & allows you to mark clearly where you suggest they stay if they wish to be collected by your wedding bus. Bus tickets sent with your wedding invitation with the time of the pick up to & from Crear work well.

To ensure your guests RSVP in good time, request a reply at least six weeks prior to your wedding.

INSURANCE

Please protect yourself and your finances from mishaps in life beyond your control, including illness or redundancy, plus Public Liability cover. Ensure your Public Liability protects you from any potential impact of any guests’ crazy antics or external supplier accident. Crear Ltd has £5m liability cover.

No one ever expects to have to cancel their wedding however we strongly suggest you take out a Wedding Insurance. This will provide cover for your irrecoverable costs incurred as a result of the unavoidable cancellation of the wedding for reasons beyond your control.

FINALISING YOUR SMALL WEDDING DETAILS INCLUDING YOUR BRIDAL FLOWERS AND YOUR FINAL BALANCE

Your final Small Wedding balance is payable in full four weeks prior to arrival. We will be in touch eight weeks prior to your arrival to finalise all the details of your day including:


• To confirm the day, time, celebrant and preferred location for your marriage ceremony


• Your choice of colours and style for your bridal flowers.

• Final guest numbers including children, babies and furry four legged friends.

• Confirmation of any additional catering requirements

•  To advise if you or your guests have food allergies

SEATING PLAN

Please send two weeks before your wedding. On arrival your tables will be set up with crisp white cloths on round or trestle tables and the cutlery polished. All ready to arrange your place names.
