a little bit about who we are .....

We appreciate that you are entrusting us with one of the most special days of your lives which may feel a little daunting while we are just names on a website and Crear and Caisealrag are an unknown destination on a map! So here is a wee bit about us and who is who and what we do.

Wendy and Stephanie are the Crear Wedding Event Managers and are here to  assist you with all your wedding planning and ensure that all goes smoothly on the day. They are always only an email or phone call away with help and advice.

Stephanie returned from her second honeymoon (with the same husband!) some twenty years after the first, travelling the world visiting far flung places after leaving her home in Germany to settle in Argyll for good. We are all happy she is back again after some hairy adventures to ensure no detail is overlooked. From the moment you contact us, she is on hand to answer your queries and help with your plans. After many years working in some of the grandest hotels in Europe, will ensure that your stay is everything (and more) that you hoped it would be.

Wendy has been a professional event manager almost all of her working life and is so brilliant at organising weddings, she has twice won the VOWS award for being the very best independent wedding planner, as well as being nominated almost every year she hasn't won. So you can be assured that not only does she love weddings, she will be full of enthusiasm and lots of tips and ideas to help you create your very special day.

Gill is our wonderful professional florist who quiet simply makes beautiful, beautiful flowers exactly as you want them. She is passionate about colours and creating something a little different and happy to work with all your ideas, however wild your imagination.

Laura, the Crear House manager, will give you a wonderful warm welcome along with her famous home baked teas, delicous stews and soups to warm you after a winter walk or can pack a summer picnic hamper filled with goodies to enjoy on the shore. She, along with Jean and Pam, will be on hand during your entire stay to ensure you have everything you need. Without Laura, Jean and Pam, the whole of Crear would grind to a halt and they are the reason it is always so sparkling!

Laura also creates wonderful fascinators and would be delighted to make something bespoke for your special day.

Jean has recently joined the Crear team, having just got engaged to Jim, who you may also meet working behind the bar. She has moved to the area from Ayrshire after many years working in the NHS, so you will not find a neater hospital corner on our crispy white linen beds!

June, our Accounts Administrator, came to Crear after fifteen years in the construction industry and is now enjoying a more feminine environment in our Glasgow office. She lives with her husband Archie and their two teenage sons, and she hopes it will be at least another ten years before she is mother of the groom!

Brian, the Crear Driver, was previously a professional footballer and then an overhead linesman. Brian loves travelling and enjoys the uniqueness of every wedding and civil partnership, meeting our wedding guests from trains and planes arriving from all over the world and driving them to a very special part of Scotland.

Kate had a crazy idea many years ago to start an artists space in the place she loved which was the start of everything along with the very brilliant conductor, Harry Bicket. She worked as an artist and professional photographer for many years before founding Crear and the arts charity, space to create and would be delighted to photograph your special day.

Elaine is one of our Wee Wedding Witness if its just the two of you and who can double up as a bridesmaid if required, LOVES weddings - she has just enjoyed her own not so wee wedding, after a whirlwind romance to Hector, with their children and grandchildren. She has worked in hospitality all her life, and is an expert on whisky being a professional 'noser', so can give you a wee tasting of the island distilleries you can see in the distance from the beach.
